This is the bicycle blog of Jon Jandoc – a car-free cyclist, commuter, tourer, randonneur, and proud retrogrouch in the city of Los Angeles. It is a bike-specific spin-off of my other blog, The Joke Is Up.
The blog is named after the Bicycle District in Los Angeles, aka HelMel, or the area around The Bicycle Kitchen, Orange 20, and Scoops. This is not in any way the official blog of that neighborhood. (I did come up with the moniker on an internet forum a while ago when a friend, Fixpert, wanted give the area an unofficial name. Later she solidified the name by putting up the sign that’s still there today. More on that in my other blog.)
